Above is the link to the list of the over 100 Sonoma wineries that are participating. It’s quite an event!
Barrel Tasting is not a food or themed event. It’s all about the WINE…many wineries offer “futures” on their barrel samples. This is a chance to purchase wine now, often at a discount, then come back to the winery when the wine is bottled, typically 12-18 months from now. Many wines are so limited, buying futures is your only chance to purchase them. We often have wine enthusiasts come from out of town just for this unique and special event. It’s also a great way to meet the vintners and learn more about the wine.
The goal of Barrel Tasting is to introduce people to wines still in the barrel, help guests learn about wine and better understand what they’re tasting and to offer futures for sale.
Sonoma County’s first ever Restaurant Week starts Feb. 22nd and runs through the 28th. A delicious, farm fresh, 3-course dinner ranges from just $19 – $39, depending on the restaurant. Of course, reservations are strongly encouraged.
While restaurants are participating throughout Sonoma, the following Bodega Bay restaurants are included as well.
The Annual Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival is April 17-18th and is our big annual fund raiser for our local community. It’s quite an occasion, featuring live music, a boat building contest, wine tasting, an amazing array of food for all, art, childrens events, a boat parade, a golf tournament, and more. In past years, they’ve had Coast Guard demonstrations and tours, and the local fire fighters have brought the trucks down and let the kids sit in them and tour them. It’s great fun for all.
In fact, the boat parade passes right in front of “At the Bay’s Edge”, it’s great fun to watch. Check out the festivities and hope to see you there!
There is an exciting array of festivities planned: creamery tours, an eight-course dining event, cheese appreciation classes (with wine!), and a marketplace where you can buy everything and meet everyone. Join in for the entire three-day event or pick and choose your own adventure.
This is a great opportunity to meet winemakers, taste limited production wines, new releases or library wines. Some wineries will offer food pairings and others will have tours. Check out their detailed program to see exactly what each winery will offer for the weekend…then plan your tasting adventure!

Just wanted to share this great pictorial video of Petaluma, CA with you. The historic town of Petaluma is just 30 minutes from “At the Bay’s Edge”….and if you’re coming from the South or East, you will probably pass through it on your way out to the coast.
Filled with Victorians, quaint stores, and a whole spectrum of activities year round, there’s something for everyone in the Riverfront Town of Petaluma!
When looking at holiday gift ideas, you might consider a gift certificate to our Bodega Bay Vacation Rental! Giving the gift of travel and relaxation (or celebration!) is always appreciated. In fact, we sell a lot of gift certificates throughout the year for anniversaries, birthdays, and general family celebrations. Travel and new experiences are such a special gift to both give and receive! (For more information on other activities in and around Sonoma as you make a decision on this gift, check out these Bodega Bay Activities and these Sonoma Coast Activities).
Petaluma’s City of Lights Driving Tour is always a good time, and I wanted to give you a link to the official map for 2009. There is strong participation among the downtown merchants in Petaluma, as well as the homes throughout the city.
Just saw this overview video featuring a tour of the Osmosis Spa in Freestone, and I wanted to share it. It gives you a real sense of the serenity of the spa itself, as well as some of the services they provide. While I’m always a fan of a good massage (and they offer massage in private pagoda’s along the creek!), what I like about the Osmosis Spa is the whole experience of being there. They have a zen garden / meditation area, and the grounds are just so peaceful and relaxing. I always allow time before or after my treatment to just “be”. Enjoy, and make sure and book some time at this Sonoma Spa during your next Bodega Bay vacation!
