Petaluma’s City of Lights Driving Tour is always a good time, and I wanted to give you a link to the official map for 2009. There is strong participation among the downtown merchants in Petaluma, as well as the homes throughout the city.
Just saw this overview video featuring a tour of the Osmosis Spa in Freestone, and I wanted to share it. It gives you a real sense of the serenity of the spa itself, as well as some of the services they provide. While I’m always a fan of a good massage (and they offer massage in private pagoda’s along the creek!), what I like about the Osmosis Spa is the whole experience of being there. They have a zen garden / meditation area, and the grounds are just so peaceful and relaxing. I always allow time before or after my treatment to just “be”. Many of my guests are surprised to learn that Bodega Bay is one of the best birding spots in all of Sonoma County. Madrone Audubon organizes many birding trips to Bodega Bay, including Walkabouts, Field Trips and Beginners Bird Walks.
Our vacation rentals have binoculars in them, so come to enjoy the birds!

Just saw this video for Safari West in Santa Rosa and wanted to share it with you.
Located on over 400 acres in the heart of California’s wine country, Safari West is home for over 400 exotic mammals and birds. Not a zoo, not a drive-through park, it’s a wildlife preserve where the whole family can experience some of nature’s most beautiful animals in a natural habitat.
Established by Peter Lang in 1989, Safari West gained membership in the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, one of only six private facilities in North America to belong to that prestigious organization. The ongoing mission of Safari West is wildlife preservation through breeding, education, research and public interaction.

The town of Bodega, CA is about 5 miles inland from “At the Bay’s Edge” in Bodega Bay.
The biggest landmarks are the St. Theresa’s Church and the Potter Schoolhouse. Both were featured in the movie “The Birds” by Alfred Hitchcock.
Bodega is also home to numerous antique stores, a gallery, and many festivals throughout the year. The Brew Coffee Shop is a tiny, friendly cafe that serves excellent coffee and tea. On a nice day, seats out front are a good place to watch the people go by.
The “downtown” itself is only about a 1/4 mile long but it’s packed with diverse shops, people, and lots of activities. Enjoy!
The Blue Water Bistro is now featuring live music on Thursday evenings from 5pm – 8pm in their fireside lounge. Admission is free, and they have wonderful dining options (and martini specials!). Such a treat to enjoy live music with this incredible view…don’t miss it during your Bodega Bay vacation!
