Enjoy Barrel Tasting Along the Wine Road

March 4th, 2010 | Category: Local Activites and Events

Barrel Tasting Sonoma County

Yes, the 32nd annual Wine Road Barrel Tasting is happening this weekend, March 6-7, and March 13-14 from 11-4.

Above is the link to the list of the over 100 Sonoma wineries that are participating. It’s quite an event!

Barrel Tasting is not a food or themed event. It’s all about the WINE…many wineries offer “futures” on their barrel samples. This is a chance to purchase wine now, often at a discount, then come back to the winery when the wine is bottled, typically 12-18 months from now. Many wines are so limited, buying futures is your only chance to purchase them. We often have wine enthusiasts come from out of town just for this unique and special event. It’s also a great way to meet the vintners and learn more about the wine.

The goal of Barrel Tasting is to introduce people to wines still in the barrel, help guests learn about wine and better understand what they’re tasting and to offer futures for sale.

Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival April 17-18, 2010

January 30th, 2010 | Category: Bodega Bay Activities

Bodega Bay Fisherman's Festival 2010The Annual Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival is April 17-18th and is our big annual fund raiser for our local community. It’s quite an occasion, featuring live music, a boat building contest, wine tasting, an amazing array of food for all, art, childrens events, a boat parade, a golf tournament, and more. In past years, they’ve had Coast Guard demonstrations and tours, and the local fire fighters have brought the trucks down and let the kids sit in them and tour them. It’s great fun for all.

In fact, the boat parade passes right in front of “At the Bay’s Edge”, it’s great fun to watch. Check out the festivities and hope to see you there!

Great Video of Petaluma, CA

January 4th, 2010 | Category: Bodega Bay Videos - At the Bay's Edge and Beyond!, Videos

Just wanted to share this great pictorial video of Petaluma, CA with you. The historic town of Petaluma is just 30 minutes from “At the Bay’s Edge”….and if you’re coming from the South or East, you will probably pass through it on your way out to the coast.

Filled with Victorians, quaint stores, and a whole spectrum of activities year round, there’s something for everyone in the Riverfront Town of Petaluma!

Osmosis Spa In Freestone

December 8th, 2009 | Category: Local Activites and Events

Just saw this overview video featuring a tour of the Osmosis Spa in Freestone, and I wanted to share it. It gives you a real sense of the serenity of the spa itself, as well as some of the services they provide. While I’m always a fan of a good massage (and they offer massage in private pagoda’s along the creek!), what I like about the Osmosis Spa is the whole experience of being there. They have a zen garden / meditation area, and the grounds are just so peaceful and relaxing. I always allow time before or after my treatment to just “be”. Enjoy, and make sure and book some time at this Sonoma Spa during your next Bodega Bay vacation!
